Over the last five seasons, the Los Angeles Clippers have been considered championship contenders when healthy, but they have gotten much weaker this summer.
They lost Paul George, a nine-time All-Star forward, in free agency when he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, while key reserve Russell Westbrook left to join the Denver Nuggets.
Star forward Kawhi Leonard is still their main man, but he may not be ready for the start of the season due to knee inflammation, per Tomer Azarly.

Leonard remains one of the NBA’s top forwards and true two-way stars, but he has had trouble staying healthy over the years as a result of chronic knee and quad problems.
Last season, he managed to appear in 68 of the Clippers’ first 74 games before missing each of their last eight regular season games and four of their six playoff games.
He finished the year averaging 23.7 points a game while shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from 3-point range.
Many feel the Western Conference will be stronger and more competitive this season, and with the Clippers losing George and not having the depth they used to boast, it could be a recipe for disaster.
They will be playing in the brand-new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., and they may need to win plenty of games with regularity to make sure they consistently put fans in seats in that new building.
In their five years with Leonard and George, the Clippers were considered the prohibitive favorites to win the NBA championship at least twice, but they made just one trip to the Western Conference Finals.
