The Miami Heat unveiled a statue celebrating Dwyane Wade a few days ago and fans were not happy about it.

The response to the statue was incredibly negative, with most people saying it didn’t look anything like the Heat legend.

Wade has heard the complaints but it doesn’t rub him the wrong way.

According to a video shared by Zachary Weinberger, via ClutchPoints, Wade spoke about the comments regarding the statue.

“Social media world is about opinions,” Wade said, before adding that “it was a special moment yesterday” no matter how people responded.

“It don’t need to look like me. It’s an artistic version of me,” Wade said.

No matter how the statue turned out, the fact that Wade was given such an honor is very special.

This is the first time the Heat have chosen to immortalize a player this way and that fact isn’t lost on Wade.

He is still considered a Heat hero and one of the most important and impressive guards of all time.

His impact on the team is unquestionable and Wade’s legacy will continue to live on.

It’s unfortunate that the statue isn’t winning rave reviews but Wade doesn’t care because he knows the intention behind it.

Even though Wade isn’t bothered, the Heat will ensure this situation isn’t repeated in the future when they create another statue celebrating a different Heat star.

Pat Riley said it won’t be long until another Miami player is memorialized in this way and the Heat will go to great lengths so they don’t have another statue that is ridiculed.
