Throughout Shaquille O’Neal’s career in the NBA, he was a hot commodity on the court as well as off it, as he was always busy doing things to build his brand and fill his bank account, from sponsorships to starring in movies.

Although O’Neal never made a significant impact with his films, outside of “Blue Chips,” it didn’t stop him from trying to be a star on the big screen.

In the end, O’Neal realized his time was better spent as an investor, much like another former Los Angeles Lakers great, Magic Johnson.

Before O’Neal had the epiphany to invest his money in promising business ventures, he had a few painful appearances in forgettable movies, one of which kept him from playing for the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

“I was shooting ‘Kazaam,’ but don’t worry about it,” O’Neal said, via “The Big Podcast.” “… I was. Don’t tell nobody.”

Although O’Neal never made it big as a movie star, the four-time NBA champion has been highly successful with everything he’s accomplished off the court, as he continues to build his empire while having a popular podcast and appearing on “NBA on TNT.”

There’s a chance that O’Neal will turn his wealth into being an NBA owner someday, as he’s openly admitted he’d be interested in being part of a group for the expansion teams the league will likely have in the next few years.
