NBA legend Pat Riley has experienced some of the best basketball that has been played in league history, from his time alongside Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain to coaching the Los Angeles Lakers and putting together an iconic Big 3 for the Miami Heat.
Riley has seen it all and has one of the most respected opinions regarding basketball, considering his history of either playing, coaching or being an executive in the NBA.
Riley recently was asked which team would come out on top between his best Heat teams and his best Lakers squads.
He didn’t hesitate to dub his Lakers as the team to beat in any hypothetical matchup because one L.A. player was impossible to defend.
“I’ll be very honest with you,” Riley said, via The OGs Show. “I think the Laker team, the Showtime team, it would be hard for any other five to beat them, and I say this because of the greatness of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was the one guy that you could not guard. You could double him, but you could not guard him.”

Abdul-Jabbar was one of the most dominant forces in the paint that the league has ever seen, resulting in him winning six NBA MVP awards and six NBA titles.
The former Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks superstar was so dominant he held the distinction as the league’s all-time leading scorer for 38 years before LeBron James broke his record.
