The Los Angeles Lakers formally introduced Luka Doncic on Tuesday morning, ushering in a brand new chapter for the team and the 25-year-old superstar.
While speaking to the press, Doncic was asked about playing under his former teammate, head coach JJ Redick.
In typical Doncic fashion, he first made a joke and said that Redick “couldn’t move at all” during his brief time with the Dallas Mavericks.
But then Doncic added that they have a great relationship and he respects Redick.
He added that he appeared on Redick’s podcast multiple times, which he wouldn’t do for a man he doesn’t care for.
"First of all, he couldn't move at all."

Some people forget that Redick briefly played for the Mavericks at the end of his career.
He spent just 13 games with Dallas and it was his last stop in the NBA before retiring after 2020-21.
During that time, he got close to Doncic and built a working relationship.
That will help now that Doncic will be under Redick’s guidance.
Doncic admires Redick and will follow his plans, which is very important because the Lakers want to hit the ground running as quickly as possible.
There are many obstacles ahead of them, but the Lakers want to make a splash in the second half of the season and get the most out of Doncic’s time with LeBron James.
Some fans feel this statement from Doncic proves the Lakers were smart to hire Redick in the summer.
He understands what it’s like to be a player and has worked with some of the stars he is now in charge of.
He has a special perspective that helps him gain the trust and loyalty of his players, including Doncic.
